Heat Pump Hot Water System with Insulated Storage Tanks

About This Project

Air-source heat pump hot water system installed on the rooftop at [LOCATION] for [CLIENT]. The system pairs heat pump modules with horizontal insulated storage tanks, sized to hold [TANK CAPACITY] litres and deliver hot water at [DELIVERY TEMPERATURE] °C to [AREA SERVED].

Heat pump units are set on levelled steel stands clear of the roof slab so condensate drains away and the evaporator coils draw free air. Storage tanks sit on fabricated supports with the whole shell insulated and clad in metal sheet to hold temperature overnight. Flow and return pipework, circulation pump, drain lines and the control cabling run between the tanks and the heat pumps, with isolation valves at each tank so one can be taken out of service without losing hot water.

Commissioning covered filling and venting the circuit, pressure testing, refrigerant checks, and running the units up to set point to record recovery time from cold. Controls were set for [OPERATING SCHEDULE], and the system replaces [PREVIOUS SYSTEM] with a running cost saving of approximately [SAVING] against electric geysers.
